About

Folasade Lawal is a British Nigerian illustrator, art educator and workshop facilitator based in South East London. She graduated with a BA (Hons) in Illustration from Camberwell College of Arts.

Her illustration practice explores metaphorical and emotive concepts often inspired by her poetry and creative writing, expressing the spectrum of human emotions and lived experiences. Through the symbolic use of colour, texture, mark-making, line and composition, she creates images that invite reflection and interpretation. Working across both traditional and digital processes, often combining the two, with her digital illustrations retaining an analogue quality.

Alongside her practice, she designs and facilitates illustration, art and design workshops for children, young people and adults in schools, museums, galleries and community settings. Her workshops encourage curiosity, creativity and confidence through creating welcoming spaces where participants can experiment, develop new skills and engage with art in meaningful and accessible ways. She aims to make art-making an enjoyable and enriching experience for people of all ages and abilities.

She’s delivered workshops, talks and exhibited work for UAL, The Line, Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich, Haberdashers' Hatcham College, Star Lane Primary School, Vicarage Primary School, Harris Academy Peckham and Spring Community Hub.
